You are interested in an exotic location where it’s sunlit and warm all through the year: Singapore that’s good business center of Asian which has just lately be a holidaymaker destination. Inspite of the change of landscapes, you will discover pleasant individuals inviting you in your own words. But remember to buy excellent holiday insurance mainly because ultra-modern clinics are often private and really costly.

Holidays can be put off for many reasons that might turn out to be very disappointing. However, to a person who has travel insurance, he or she can be properly compensated for the financial losses they might have made. You will want to purchase travel insurance to avoid this problem.

If you happen to be sick when you travel and peradventure you could not access the kind of medical treatment you require, you travel insurance can be of immense help, because it can cover for the cost of evacuating you back home. Thereby saving your life in the process.

You might be wondering what might resort to some one cutting short their vacation. The fact is that several conditions like pregnancy, falling ill and even losing a dear one can. All these can prematurely terminate your holiday. However, you don’t have to worry if you have a travel insurance plan.

Do you know that credit card companies provide annual travel insurance? What’s more, they also offer additional benefits such that in the event of loss or theft of a customer’s credit card, the customer stands to be furnished with another one in no time.

It is important for you to know that insurance providers will not reimburse you nor will they be responsible for your lost or stolen baggage if you carelessly allow such to happen. More so, if you had a second thought about your journey and didn’t travel their will be no compensation for that.

Education

Schools in Singapore vary in size and cater for children between the ages of 3 and 21. Many of the schools offer the IB Diploma and IGCSE whilst some also offer the English National Curriculum. Most of the International schools offer a wide range of extracurricular activities.

Children here tend to be well behaved and are keen to learn, a pleasure to teach.

The school year runs from August to the end of June. The International Schools are usually well resourced and the air conditioning makes for a great working environment.

Living

Singapore is the beautiful, sunny island in South Asia surrounded by 60 islets. It is a place where the modern west meets the culture of Asia. Although Singapore is a tiny island with few natural resources (not even its own water supply) it is incredibly well off.

This is due to the foresight of a government that took maximum advantage of the country’s geographical position and established Singapore as the world’s largest port (now second to Rotterdam).

Its status as a hub has made it an ideal place for the petrochemical refining and its associated industries. With eleven refineries and huge capacity Singapore is third worlds largest refiner after Rotterdam and Houston.

The cost of living in Singapore is amongst the highest in Asia. It is also well worth bearing in mind that Singapore offers state of the art facilities for education, shopping, sports and recreation.

The prices of food and clothing are reasonable. Singapore is a vibrant crowded city full of high rise buildings, museums, historic buildings and shopping centers.

There are, however, plenty of places to go to escape the hustle and bustle including 400 parks numerous beaches and of course the rainforest. Most people speak English and government signs are posted in English as well as Chinese, Malay and Tamil, so communicating with the locals will not be a problem.

Life in Singapore is very, very safe and ideal for bringing up children. It is very much a multi cultural society.

Situated near to the Equator, Singapore does not have seasons with temperatures being around 30C all year round, humidity is high. There are frequent heavy but short showers usually between November and January.

Entertainment

The best places to go are Clarke Quay (a historical riverside quay in Singapore), the Bukit Timah Nature Reserve, the Night Safari (the world’s zoo), the Changi Museum and so on.

The Intellectual Property Office of Singapore (IPOS) is the government agency that administers Intellectual Property (IP) laws in Singapore. Most transactions may be effected on-line vide IPOS official website, which provides a secured one-stop portal for, inter alias, filing applications, recordals and conducting trade mark search. An application in Singapore in a straight-forward case normally takes around 6 – 8 months from filing to registration. If the application encounters Registry’s objections or faces opposition proceedings from third party, the time frame may be prolonged. Within 2 – 4 weeks from the date of filing, IPOS will allocate a Trade Mark Number, and will thereafter issue the First Office Action if any objection or query has been raised by the Registrar.

During the substantive examination stage, the Registrar will peruse the application to check if it is in accordance with the requirements set-out in the Act. Office Actions are usually technical and may require professional advice in overcoming the objections raised. As soon as the Registrar is satisfied that the application is in good order and all objections have been waived or resolved, the said application will proceed to the publication stage. IPOS publishes accepted trade marks in the Singapore Trade Marks Journal which is available to the public via its online portal. Any person who intends to oppose the accepted mark may file an opposition (Notice of Opposition) within 2 months from the date of publication. This deadline is extendable up to a maximum of 4 months from the date of publication.

The whole opposition proceedings is a rather lengthy and costly process, requiring both parties, the opponent and the applicant, to file their respective Notice of Opposition, Counter-Statement, Statutory Declarations and written submissions within the given deadlines. During the course of the proceedings, the parties may enter into a settlement negotiations before the Hearing stage with a view to settle the matter amicably. If no opposition is filed by the prescribed deadline, the IPOS will issue the Certificate of Registration. In Singapore, registration of a trade mark is valid for 10 years, and protection can lasts indefinitely with proper use of the registered mark and with payment of renewal fees every 10 years.

Recently the Singapore dollar has been reevaluated upward. This is of particular note to those interested in global multicurrency investments at a time when both the US dollar and Euro are being devalued. The Singapore dollar recently traded at near record highs as improving confidence in the Asian economies continued to raise the value of all Asian currencies. In addition, bank loan statistics continued to show a faster than expected expansion of the Singaporean economy. The significance of rise of their dollar at the same time the US dollar is reaching new lows cannot be ignored by those looking for a safe haven jurisdiction in which to invest.

Singapore established the Board of Commissioners of Currency, on April 7, 1967 and issued its first coins and notes. The Singapore dollar remained exchangeable at par with the Malaysian ringgit until 1973 when it was pegged to the British sterling pound. After the demise of the sterling pound until 1985 the Singapore dollar was pegged against a fixed a trade-weighted basket of currencies. Beginning in 1985, Singapore adopted a market-oriented exchange policy monitored by the newly created Monetary Authority of Singapore or MAS. The MAS continue to set monetary policy for the Singapore dollar today. The MAS allows the dollar to float against a basket of currencies representing Singapore’s trading partners and competitors. Singapore dollars are fully backed by government assets to ensure public confidence in the dollar. The MAS policies allow the Singapore government to maintain control over inflation while at the same time ensuring Singapore’s exports remain competitive.

Singapore is Asia’s major financial hub. The upward valuation of the Singapore dollar and continued strength of the economy makes this location an attractive jurisdiction for deposits from European and North American investors. A further advantage for wealthy foreigners considering investments in Singapore is the country’s business and investor friendly banking and tax laws. In the past, many North American and European investors found banking in Singapore difficult due to the physical distance from their home country, and the requirement imposed by most banks there that opening and managing an account had to be done face-to-face in the country. As more multinational banks open branch offices in Singapore the requirement that investors physically be in Singapore is changing. Today, the multinational banks are able to provide investors with accounts in Singapore and financial advisors and account managers not very far from the accountholder’s home. These multinational banks also offer investors a diversified investment strategy including contingency plans to shift investor’s accounts to a different jurisdiction, within the same bank, on short notice, if a particular jurisdiction becomes financially unstable for any reason.

A visit to the Singapore zoo is the closes thing anyone in Singapore will get to the Safari experience ever, from the safety of well constructed and fascinating enclosures. The Singapore Zoo is locally known as the Mandai Zoo. It occupies a total area of 40 hectares. The zoo was first opened in 23rd of June in 1973 by the local government. There are a total of 315 species in the zoo including some of the country’s endangered species. The Singapore zoo draws millions of visitors each year.

The zoo is very attractive during the night while the evening glow illuminates the zoo scenery. Today, the Singapore zoo is more of like an open zoo with its very spacious features that makes everyone feel like being in a jungle with all the animals. Its total area has also grown from 28 hectares, is now became 40 hectares of land. Though not all the area is being used as a zoo, the remaining lands of the property became a forested land.

Among the famous attractions in Singapore zoo are the Orangutans that are being fed by the visitors. There is a daily “breakfast with the Orangutan” program which let the visitors have a chance to intermingle with the orangutans in the zoo. The said animals are quiet friendly so everyone especially the children will always enjoy mingling with them.

Another attraction here is the available rides that can be tried by the zoo visitors. There are pony rides, horse carriages, and other animal rides which everyone will definitely enjoy. These rides will truly fascinate everyone both children and adults. One can always try them by the help of many friendly zoo staffs. If you haven’t tried any animal rides yet, Singapore zoo will truly be a delightful place for you.

There is also a program in the zoo called the “friends of the zoo” program which people can sign up to and have a yearly pass in the zoo and have several privileges such as: free and limitless entry to the zoo for a whole year round; free tram rides; free wildlife magazines; and a ten percent discount in some retail outlets. This program is very much appreciated by the Singapore zoo lovers who love to visit the place many times a year.

This is truly a place for everyone to have fun. The beauty of the zoo will captivate every nature lover and animal lovers. One will definitely adore the attractive and friendly animals particularly when visitors are interacting with them. A trip to the Singapore will surely make everyone be back for more and be hooked with the beauty of the amazing nature of the zoo.

Finding Singapore jobs are easy today given the level of recruitment from foreign companies. They all want to have an interest in the thriving market in Singapore, so they send employees to the area. If their employees are not willing to relocate, then they recruit other people interested. Many wonder why a person would relocate to Singapore. Yes, there are circumstances that prevent them from doing otherwise. However, in some instances, the benefits far outweigh the costs. Often times, these employees are rewarded thoroughly. Many companies provide relocation bonuses. Usually they help find housing and sometimes supplement their income to provide means to pay for the housing. Although they have to adjust to a new culture, they often learn a lot both in the company and about the culture of Singapore.

In addition, Singapore is a wonderful area to live in. The climate is pleasant through the year. The seasons do not change very much. The only downside is that it rains nearly every day in Singapore. It is the worst November through January. However, despite the rain, Singapore is a cool area with a slight breeze that is enjoyable for many. Upon arriving in Singapore, you might find it difficult to adjust. However, although it is a different place, the area is very westernized. While this will bring comfort to many people that are used to living and working in the city,Singapore is still at heart an Asian land. It’s culture and way of doing business relates to Asian practices and this might be an adjustment at first. Lastly, relocating to Singapore will not break the bank. The prices are relatively similar if not lower in Singapore compared to other areas. And, many people that move to Singapore are able to adjust and get by comfortably on their income. You will be able too. Just make sure that your salary translates well with the one you currently have and analyze your budget before you move. Then, you will be good to go.

A high ranking on the ease of doing business index means that the regulatory environment is conducive to the operation of a business. Also, the Singapore economy is based on free enterprise, with no restrictions on foreign ownership of business. Employing workers measures the flexibility of labour laws among various countries over the world. It examines the difficulty of hiring a new worker, rigidity in terms of working hours and problems faced while dismissing a worker. Trading across borders criteria includes documentation, time and cost to export and import. Singapore is also ranked first for having the most open economy for international trade and investment by the World Economic Forum.

Singapore is business friendly and an ideal country for company formation because of the ease with which taxes can be filed and paid, and also its low corporate tax rates relative to many developed economies in the world. From Year of Assessment 2010 onwards, the corporate tax rate of Singapore is to be 17%, just 0.5% higher than that of Hong Kong – Singapore’s closest competitor in the Asia region. However, the effective tax rate is significantly lower than most of the countries, if not all the countries, in the region. With a further reduction in the 1% from 18% to 17% in corporate tax rate, it will enhance Singapore’s appeal to attract investment dollars.
