The Intellectual Property Office of Singapore (IPOS) is the government agency that administers Intellectual Property (IP) laws in Singapore. Most transactions may be effected on-line vide IPOS official website, which provides a secured one-stop portal for, inter alias, filing applications, recordals and conducting trade mark search. An application in Singapore in a straight-forward case normally takes around 6 – 8 months from filing to registration. If the application encounters Registry’s objections or faces opposition proceedings from third party, the time frame may be prolonged. Within 2 – 4 weeks from the date of filing, IPOS will allocate a Trade Mark Number, and will thereafter issue the First Office Action if any objection or query has been raised by the Registrar.

During the substantive examination stage, the Registrar will peruse the application to check if it is in accordance with the requirements set-out in the Act. Office Actions are usually technical and may require professional advice in overcoming the objections raised. As soon as the Registrar is satisfied that the application is in good order and all objections have been waived or resolved, the said application will proceed to the publication stage. IPOS publishes accepted trade marks in the Singapore Trade Marks Journal which is available to the public via its online portal. Any person who intends to oppose the accepted mark may file an opposition (Notice of Opposition) within 2 months from the date of publication. This deadline is extendable up to a maximum of 4 months from the date of publication.

The whole opposition proceedings is a rather lengthy and costly process, requiring both parties, the opponent and the applicant, to file their respective Notice of Opposition, Counter-Statement, Statutory Declarations and written submissions within the given deadlines. During the course of the proceedings, the parties may enter into a settlement negotiations before the Hearing stage with a view to settle the matter amicably. If no opposition is filed by the prescribed deadline, the IPOS will issue the Certificate of Registration. In Singapore, registration of a trade mark is valid for 10 years, and protection can lasts indefinitely with proper use of the registered mark and with payment of renewal fees every 10 years.

Finding Singapore jobs are easy today given the level of recruitment from foreign companies. They all want to have an interest in the thriving market in Singapore, so they send employees to the area. If their employees are not willing to relocate, then they recruit other people interested. Many wonder why a person would relocate to Singapore. Yes, there are circumstances that prevent them from doing otherwise. However, in some instances, the benefits far outweigh the costs. Often times, these employees are rewarded thoroughly. Many companies provide relocation bonuses. Usually they help find housing and sometimes supplement their income to provide means to pay for the housing. Although they have to adjust to a new culture, they often learn a lot both in the company and about the culture of Singapore.

In addition, Singapore is a wonderful area to live in. The climate is pleasant through the year. The seasons do not change very much. The only downside is that it rains nearly every day in Singapore. It is the worst November through January. However, despite the rain, Singapore is a cool area with a slight breeze that is enjoyable for many. Upon arriving in Singapore, you might find it difficult to adjust. However, although it is a different place, the area is very westernized. While this will bring comfort to many people that are used to living and working in the city,Singapore is still at heart an Asian land. It’s culture and way of doing business relates to Asian practices and this might be an adjustment at first. Lastly, relocating to Singapore will not break the bank. The prices are relatively similar if not lower in Singapore compared to other areas. And, many people that move to Singapore are able to adjust and get by comfortably on their income. You will be able too. Just make sure that your salary translates well with the one you currently have and analyze your budget before you move. Then, you will be good to go.

Nowadays, we can still see the remnants of this here and about, as some of the city is still within the preserved regions of Singapore. Colonial design for interior design is very classic and very Victorian, as most of the brickwork and even materials used were transported, in some sense, from the British that came here not long ago. One thing that needs to be realised is that while this is the cornerstone and distinct identity of post colonial Singapore, what needs to be realised is that much has changed over the years. With the global village concept coming to a head and Singapore capitalising on its connectivity to the rest of the world, plenty of influences have come in to change the landscape of interior design. For one thing, as Singapore lunges into modernity and contemporary thinking, what we can see is that since the 80′s, many of the interior design and architecture were demandingly modern, in the sense of the spaces, the shapes and the sizes of many of the new houses and apartments that came up.

The concept of the condominium was perhaps one of the more interesting bulkheads of how interior design became modern. And how this has applied is that it has created these boxes where interior designs saw a vacuum and lunged in to fill it. As we can see, many of the interior design ideas that has pervaded this century, and I suspect, for many more years to come, will be the modern home. The modern home is a loose concept that can be stretched quite horizontally across the regions of design ideas. Modern means crisp and clean design, with a much more concentrated effort on spaces and clean living areas. In fact, there is a leaning towards a more minimalist ideal when thinking about the more contemporary homes here in Singapore.

For one thing, we cannot also just say that this is the trend. Looking at some of the more startling homes in Singapore reveals that Singapore Interior Design is very much a leech in the sense that it absorbs all sorts of influences, and we being a metropolis, fuses them together for some creative collections. European influences come together with Asian touches, and so on and so forth, and this is the trend that we can be expecting for many years to come. If you do need more information on the whole region of Singapore Interior Design, then the few design magazines in Singapore would be a great start.

In the 7th century, she was the Temasek, the trading center of Sumatra’s ancient Srivijaya empire. In 1963, Singapore was part of a political and economic alliance formed between the Federation of Malaya, Sarawak and North Borneo which is now Sabah under the nation of Malaysia. This alliance, proposed by the Malayan Prime Minister Tunku Abdul Rahman, was called Malaysia, and proved to be short-lived.

In 1965, Singapore separated from the Malaysian Federation to become an independent republic. Over 45 years, Singapore has relentlessly pursued the goal of becoming Asia’s Pre-eminent center for tourism, trade and finance, by developing education and technical training programs, investment strategies, aviation and environmental policies. This nation is a good example of model urban planning and a former colony of Great Britain, it is a tiny city state. It is a member of Association of Southeast Asian Nation or known as ASEAN. Singapore is a major international hub in whole Asia, it is positioned on many sea and air trade routes. Slum areas were eliminated and the urban planners have been knowledgeable about the planning experiences in other parts of the world especially in Western Cities.

The success of Singapore as an offshore banking hub is a result of the country’s economic stability, security and business-friendly practices. The country’s taxation rates, which are among the lowest in Asia, its rating as a grade A offshore center and its relationship with many major international financial institutions are just some of the factors that make Singapore an ideal offshore banking center.

Individuals who open offshore accounts in Singapore are typically investors from North America, Europe and Australia who look for high quality banking services. Singapore fits the bill perfectly, with its world-class banking structures, proficiency in English and an independent business environment that is outside the United States and European Union’s influence. The country’s stable economy, flexible regulations and sophisticated legal system help ensure individuals are able to efficiently conduct their offshore businesses.

One factor that makes Singapore ideal as an offshore banking site is its tax regulations on foreign account holders. Interest earned by foreign individuals on bank deposits, overseas income and Singapore-based investments are tax-exempt. Individuals with accounts in Singapore are also free from capital gains taxes and estate duties on deposits and investments. Singapore bank accounts can also be maintained in all major currencies, allowing for a wider range of account options for individuals from all over the world. Bank accounts may also be opened in the name of corporations or trusts, allowing individuals great flexibility in asset reporting.

Singapore is home to some of the most reputable global financial institutions, such as Citigroup, HSBC and Standard Chartered Bank – all of which will accommodate individuals looking to set up an offshore account in the country. Offshore banking in Singapore is a seamless way for foreign investors to enter the Asian region. With the country’s economic, banking and tax policies foreign individuals can be assured of conducting their businesses in a secure, flexible and reliable environment.
